Check out the Ink

The Ink, Ellensburg’s newest artistic work space, is holding an open house tonight, as part of the First Friday Art Walk festivities, at its location on Main Street adjacent to the Daily Record office. The Ink is overseen by Gallery One and houses the Blue Bear Puppet Lab, Manastash Media and Ellensburg Community Radio. The open house starts at 5 p.m.


Chamber by candlelight

The CWU Chamber Choir will perform “Horizons” at 7 tonight at the First United Methodist Church. The concert features contemporary choral works highlighting themes of sharking, giving, healing, peace and strengthening community and concludes with “Silent Night”. Tickets are $20 for general admission and available through CWU Wildcat Tickets.

Tree of Love is tonight

The annual Tree of Love candlelight vigil at 6 tonight at Hal Holmes Community Center will honor and celebrate Hearts and Hands 40 years of providing hospice services in Kittitas County. The event will include a meal and slideshow honoring those who passed away this past year. Call 509-968-5117 to RSVP.


Light up the holiday

The lighted Christmas in Cle Elum Parade and fireworks show is Saturday night in Cle Elum. The parade is at 6 p.m. in downtown Cle Elum and fireworks follow at 7 p.m. The festivities are part of the Christmas in Cle Elum celebration that continues through December and is sponsored by the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce.


Bringing Toys to Tots

The annual Toys for Tots fundraiser is Saturday at the Red Lion Inn. Doors open a 3 p.m and live music starts at 5 p.m. The event features live and silent auctions, door prizes a bar and food. Entry is $5. The event is organized by the Downer County Bikers in association with the Bearded Sinners of Washington.


Winter carnival set for Saturday

The Frozen Winter Carnival is set for 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, in the IOOF Lodge on Pine Street. The carnival features dance lessons with Elsa, photos with Olaf, games, crafts and treats. Tickets are $10 for an individual and $25 for a family. The event is a fundraiser for CWU Students with a Purpose organization.


Final weekend for “A Christmas Carol”

CWU Theatre Department’s production of “A Christmas Carol” returns for its final weekend of performances Friday through Sunday at McConnell Auditorium. There are 7:30 p.m. showings on Friday and Saturday, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children.


A day of jazz

The end-of-quarter performances for Central’s jazz bands are on Saturday. An Afternoon of Jazz at 4 p.m. features CWU Jazz Band II and II and Vocal Jazz II. An Evening of Jazz with Jazz Band I and Vocal Jazz I is at 7 p.m. Concerts are in the McIntyre Music Building. Tickets are $15 for general admission and valid for both shows.


Pair to be honored for years of service

The Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame will honor Mike Allen and Joel Smith for their years of service to the organization during this week’s First Friday event, starting at 5 tonight at the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame. Allen and Smith recently stepped down from the hall of fame’s board of directors but continue to volunteer.


Symphony concert on Sunday

The CWU Orchestra performs its end-of-the-quarter concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, in the McIntyre Music Buildings. Tickets are $15.
