City adds to Reed Park plans
The city of Ellensburg is developing a new Reed Park plan, called a hybrid option, based on public feedback it has received during the master planning process for the park this past year. Information on the various park options is available on the city of Ellensburg’s website. The public can comment on the plans at a Reed Park Master Plan Open house at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 18 at City Hall.
Lunch concert on Friday
The first Kairos and Friends’ Let’s Do Lunch concert is at noon on Friday at the Hal Holmes Community Center. The free concert series runs on the first Friday of the month through March.
Art and music on tap tonight
Ellensburg celebrates the First Friday Art Walk tonight starting at 5 p.m. In addition to the gallery shows, there will be live music at multiple venues throughout the downtown.
Heads up for aerial display
As part of Ellensburg High School’s homecoming week festivities, a fireworks display will follow the EHS football game at about 9 p.m. Friday. The Bulldogs welcome Wenatchee.
Annual archives crawl is Saturday
Ellensburg annual Archives Crawl is 9 a.m., Saturday starting at the Brooks Library Student Commons. The tour consists of archivists, museum curators and directors sharing about their repositories and collections and visiting repositories on campus and in the community. Registration is required and the form is available on the Central Washington University’s website.
Weekend event celebrates Thorp
The Thorp Community Days Dinner and Auction is at 6 p.m., Friday in the Thorp School gym. The Thorp FFA caters the dinner and music will be provided by Micah J. The Thorp Community Days Festival is all day Saturday starting at 8 a.m. with a breakfast at the Thorp Fire Station. There also will be a grand parade, live entertainment, a Thorp Mill Open House, vendors and many activities for kids.
Ciderfest set for Saturday
The Windfall Ciderfest is at 7 p.m., Saturday at the Kittitas Valley Event Center. Ciderfest, which is a fundraiser for the Kittitas Environmental Education Network, features live music from Killdeer String Band, Rusty Cage and Santa Poco, and ciders from Ellensburg, Puget Sound, Wenatchee and Yakima ciderhouses. Tickets are $45. This is a 21-and-over event.
Final movie in summer series
The final movie in the Roslyn Yard Summer Nights movie series is “Labyrinth,” at sunset on Saturday. The movie is free.
County commissioners to meet in Easton
The Kittitas County commissioners will hold a town hall meeting in Easton at 4 p.m., Oct. 11 in the Easton School Multi-purpose room. A question and answer period will follow a presentation made by the commissioners.

What’s under the lights Friday night
In Friday high school night football, Ellensburg hosts Wenatchee at 7 p.m. This is the Bulldogs homecoming game and there will be fireworks after the contest at about 9 p.m. Kittitas hosts Goldendale at 7 p.m. Cle Elum-Roslyn travels to White Swan for a 7 p.m. game.
Remodeled Nicholson hosts first event
On Saturday, the Central Washington University volleyball will play its first match in the remodeled Nicholson Pavilion at 1 p.m., against Northwest Nazarene. The Wildcats have not played in Nicholson since Nov. 20, 2021. Later on Saturday, the football team welcomes Eastern New Mexico for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table lunch is a bacon, lettuce, tomato and crushed avocado sandwich, roasted potatoes and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
