Drive-thru vaccine clinic is on Wednesday
The annual drive-thru flu and COVID vaccine clinic is 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds Western Village. Vehicles should enter from Alder Street. The clinic is organized by the Kittitas County and Health Department and Community Health of Central Washington. The vaccines are free but supplies are limited.
Ribbon cutting for remodeled Nicholson
CWU will celebrate the completion of the Health Education and Nicholson Pavilion project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday at the west patio outside Nicholson. Work began on the $60.5 million project, which was funded by the state Legislature and private donors, in December of 2021.
Upper County candidate forum tonight
An Upper County Candidate Forum will be held at 6 tonight at the Putnam Centennial Center. Gary Berndt will moderate the forum. People can submit questions by arriving at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner and a show
The Valley Musical Theatre is staging its Cabernet Cabaret tonight and Saturday in the Hotel Windrow. The doors open at 6:30 tonight with the live show at 7. The Saturday matinee is at 1 p.m. The Saturday night show starts at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner catered by Ellensburg Pasta Co. and a live show at 7:30 p.m. The live show features songs from many Broadway productions. Ticket information is available on the Valley Music Theatre website.
Chance for kids to create art
Children will have the opportunity to create art and have fun at Rotary Pavilion in Unity Park during the Farmers Market on Saturday. Kids will create a face to be part of a community art project to be displayed at the pavilion. In addition to art, there will be games and music and a raffle for free family membership to Gallery One. This event is sponsored by Gallery One and the Ellensburg Downtown Association.
CWU celebrates Homecoming weekend
CWU’s celebration of Homecoming weekend includes a performance by standup comedian Janae Burris at 8:30 tonight in the SURC Theatre. Tickets are $10. Other Homecoming weekend events include Wellington’s Wildfire in the Nicholson parking lot at 7 tonight, a planetarium show at 11 a.m., Saturday and a Music Department Fall Faculty Showcase (donations accepted) 6 p.m., Sunday in the McIntyre Music Building.
Repair café this weekend
The monthly Rodeo City Repair Café is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at the IOOF Cemetery Shop on Brick Road.
Ski equipment swap meet on Saturday
The annual KCSSC Youth Ski and Snowboard Club is 11 a.m., Saturday at Dru Bru-Cle Elum. This is a chance to sell and purchase gear and attend multiple free clinics throughout the day. There is a gear for all ages.
Ellensburg Strum-Along on Saturday
Ellensburg Strum-Along will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Gallery Strum. The Strum-Along is organized by Make Music Ellensburg and is a chance for guitar, ukulele players, and other instrumentalists and singers to gather for a jam session. The music to be played can be previewed on the Make Music Ellensburg website.

Action under the lights tonight
Tonight’s high school football schedule features Ellensburg hosting East Valley, Cle Elum-Roslyn hosting Goldendale and Kittitas hosting Highland. All games kickoff at 7.
Central teams celebrate homecoming
As part of the Homecoming celebration, three Central teams will host games on Saturday. The Wildcats soccer team welcomes rival Western Washington for a match at noon, the volleyball team faces Montana State-Billings at 2 p.m., and the football team takes on West Texax A&M at 6 p.m.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table lunch is chicken alfredo, peas and peaches. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
