Threshing Bee is this weekend
The annual Threshing Bee and Antique Equipment Show is on Saturday and Sunday at the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The show includes a tractor parade each day at 1 p.m., a threshing bee demonstration at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, as well as tractor-drawn rides and an array of family activities. Each day starts with breakfast by the Rodeo City Kiwanis at 7 a.m. Admission is a $2 donation. The Kittitas Valley Early Iron Club organizes the show.
Night-time road closures ahead
Beginning Monday night road work will start on Wildcat Way between University Way and 18th Avenue. Work includes roadway grinding, full-depth pavement repair and an asphalt overlay. This will necessitate a full road closure of Wildcat Way between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Between University Way and 11th Avenue, the closure will be limited to 7 to 10 p.m. This phase of the project is expected to last two weeks. Toward the end of the coming week, work will begin on Main Street between University Way and Third Avenue.
Cornhole for CASA
The annual CASA Rocks Cornhole tournament is 11 a.m., Saturday at Unity Park. The cost is $50 per team, and the event is a Court Advocates for Children fundraiser. More information is available on the Court Advocates for Children Kittitas County website.
Running for recovery
The Recovery Run 5K is at 9 a.m., Saturday, at Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park. The run is sponsored by the Kittitas County Recovery Community Organization for people of all fitness levels. Registration is $50 for adults and $25 for children.
Free movie in Roslyn on Saturday
“Matilda” is being shown at sunset on Saturday as part of the Roslyn Yard Summer Nights movie series. Admission is free.
Bitterbrush takes the Punch Projects stage
Bitterbrush will perform on the Punch Project Stage at 2 p.m., Saturday.
Trail work set for this weekend
Mountains to Sound Greenway is looking for people to assist in the Iron Bear Trail work project from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toed show and long pants. Tools and safety gear will be provided. More information is available on the Mountains to Sound Greenway website.

Friday night is alright for football
In Friday night high school football action Ellensburg High School looks for its first win of the season with Selah visiting Adreotti Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Cle Elum-Roslyn also searches for its first win when Chelan visits Chuck Allen Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff. After a high-scoring loss to open the season, Kittitas travels to play Columbia High School in Burbank at 7 p.m.
Central football welcomes Angelo State
The Central Washington University football team looks to reverse a winless start to the season when Angelo State visits Tomlinson Stadium for a 6 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
Easton football in action
Easton High School’s six-man football team faces Lake Quinault at 1 p.m., Saturday at Thorp High School.

LUNCH
The FISH Open Table lunch is a green chili chicken burrito and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.

The forecasted high today in Ellensburg is 89 degrees. Sunset is at 7:13 p.m., and the expected nighttime low is 49 degrees. Winds will be from 5 to 10 mph. The weekend forecast calls for highs of 92 on Saturday and 81 on Sunday.
