Kittitas Valley under severe Red Flag warning
Due to dry conditions, low humidity and winds predicted to peak this afternoon, the National Weather Service placed the Kittitas Valley under a severe Red Flag warning throughout today. Due to the conditions, there is an increased risk of the rapid spread of new and existing fires. The warning is in place until 11 tonight.
Forest Service enacts campground fire restrictions
Campfire restrictions go into effect on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest starting today. Campfires are allowed only in designated developed campgrounds and some designated will wilderness. More information on the restrictions is available on the Forest Service website.
Plant diagnostic clinic is Tuesday
Free gardening advice is available at the Master Gardner Plant diagnostic clinic at from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at the WSU Extension office, 911 E. Seventh Ave.
Workshop to focus on mental health
A workshop on employee mental health will be offered at noon, Wednesday at the Business Development Center in Cle Elum. The free program features a presentation U.S. Department of Labor and Industries Benefits Adviser Clive Mitchell. The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce organizes the workshop.
Night market set for Wednesday
The Ellensburg Night Market takes place Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. on Pine Street between Third and Fourth avenues. The event features vendors and micro-business owners in the community. The night market is organized by the Ellensburg Downtown Association.

The FISH Open Table lunch is a cheese ravioli with pesto sauce and parmesan cheese, garlic-lemon broccoli and applesauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
