School’s (almost) out for summer
This is the last week of school public school districts in Kittitas County. The Kittitas and Cle Elum-Roslyn school districts get out on Wednesday. The Easton and Ellensburg school districts get out on Friday.
Ellensburg schedules downtown road work
Motorists should plan for downtown street and parking closures on July 3 as the city conducts road resurfacing projects. Road closures include:
• Fourth Avenue from Water to Ruby streets.
• Pearl Street from Third to Fifth avenues.
• Pine Street from Third to Fifth avenues.
The closures are from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m.
EVENTS
Annual Hospitality and Retail Summit Tuesday
The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Hospitality and Retail Summit is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, at the Hotel Windrow. There will be speakers in the session prior to lunch and a job fair after lunch. The event is free but registration is required for lunch. More information is available on the chamber’s website.
Dinner celebrates 100 years of rodeo
The Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame is hosting a dinner celebrating the 100 years of Ellensburg Rodeo Wednesday at the Hotel Windrow. The event starts at the Rooftop Bubbles and Bar at 4:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6 p.m. Tickets are $100.
Valley Voices perform in concert
The Valley Voices Choir presents Classic+Rock: Life concert and auction fundraiser at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, at the United Methodist Church. The concert will feature guest musicians from Spiced Rye and the Killdeer String Band. The concert is free with donations accepted. Donations and money raised by the auction will go to support the construction of a new community music school in downtown Ellensburg.
Return of the wiener dogs and more
The 20th annual Dachshunds on Parade is Saturday in downtown Ellensburg, starting at 9:30 a.m., and continuing to 3 p.m. There will be a parade, races and contests. There will be separate races and contests for other breeds — small, medium and large. This year’s event is hosted by Josie’s Misfit Ranch and sponsored by Club 301, the Valley Veterinary Hospital, Puget Sound Energy and the Ellensburg Downtown Association.

Who meets this week?
The following public entity governing bodies are scheduled to meet this week:
• The Cle Elum City Council meets at 6 p.m., Monday, at City Hall.
• The Cle Elum-Roslyn School Board holds a work-study session at 6 p.m., Monday in the middle school library.
• The Kittitas City Council meets at 6 p.m., Tuesday at City Hall.
• The Ellensburg School Board meets at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Ida Nason Aronica Elementary School.
LUNCHTIME
Lunch at the Ellensburg School District elementary schools today is chicken nuggets and crackers, salad bar and fresh fruit. Middle school students can choose Pep and Cheese Ripper, buffalo chicken salad, burger basket, deli sandwiches, salad bar and fresh fruit. Lunch items at the high school include chicken wings, Domino’s Pizza, burger basket, turkey Philly cheese sandwich, salad bar and fresh fruit.
The FISH Open Table lunch today is classic chicken alfredo with fresh herbs, mixed vegetables and tomato. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
