LUNCH TIME
Today's lunch at the Ellensburg School District elementary schools is chicken nuggets and crackers, salad bar and fresh fruit. Middle school students have a choice of pasta and meatballs, buffalo chicken salad, a burger basket, deli sandwiches, a salad bar and fresh fruit. Lunch items at the high school include chicken wings, Domino’s pizza, a burger basket, deli sandwich, salad bar and fresh fruit.
The FISH Open Table lunch today is chicken chili Verde garnished with sour cream and cheddar cheese, cornbread and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED THIS WEEK
City councils, school boards and county commissions meet this week creating opportunities for residents to contribute and comment on the public process.
The Ellensburg City Council meets at 7 tonight at City Hall. Included on the agenda are public hearings two annexations request, the Ellensburg Police Department’s annual report for 2022, and a financial status report for the first quarter of 2023.
The Kittitas County Commissioners meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday in the commissioners’ auditorium. The commissioners are expected to set a public hearing date for a request to lower the speed limit on Thomas Road, between Wilson Creek and Naneum Road. The current speed limit is 50 mph.
The Kittitas School Board meets at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Kittitas Secondary School.

Candidate filing week is here
If you are thinking about seeking political office, the filing week for the positions on the fall General Election ballot is this week, through Friday. People can file electronically or in person at the Kittitas County Auditor’s Office in the courthouse. This election features city council, school board, fire district, water district and hospital district races.
SPORTS
The Cle Elum-Roslyn baseball team won twice Saturday to advance to the 2B state tournament. The Warriors dispatched county-rival Kittitas, 14-0, in the first game and then defeated Warden, 8-1, in the second game. The Warriors play Adna on Saturday at Johnson-O’Brien Stadium in Ephrata. A win advances Cle Elum into the state quarterfinals against Jenkins of Chewelah later that day.
The Ellensburg High School baseball team’s season came to an end Saturday with a 4-0 loss to Clarkston in the district playoffs. Clarkston scored all its runs in the fifth inning.
Both the Cle Elum-Roslyn and Kittitas girls’ softball teams host district playoff games on Wednesday. First pitch in both contest is 4 p.m.
The Ellensburg girls’ softball season ended Saturday with a 13-2 loss to Ephrata in the district tournament.

Concert highlights women composers
Shattering Glass: New Works for Trombone and Piano by women composers will be performed at 6 tonight at the McIntyre Music Building. Admission is free.
CWU Symphonic Band to perform
The CWU Symphonic Band will perform Halcyon at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the McIntyre Music Building. The concert explores the concepts of love, innocence, peace and energy. Admission is free.
Magazine launch party Wednesday
The launch and reading party for the 2023 release of the CWU student literary journal, Manastash, is 3 p.m., Wednesday in the Student Union and Recreation Center Pit. The will be volume 33 of the magazine.
