Veterans Day Parade
Ellensburg’s annual Veterans Day Parade is at 11 a.m., today, in downtown Ellensburg. In addition to local veterans, the parade features the Ellensburg High School Marching Band.
Leads hold in the latest vote count
Chris Herion and James Kirkham maintained their leads for Kittitas County Superior Court Judge positions after Thursday’s count. Herion leads Matt Mills by 669 votes for Kittitas County Superior Court Judge Position 1. Kirkham leads Patricia Todd by 890 votes for Kittitas County Superior Court Judge Position 2. The next ballot count is Wednesday. The election will be certified on Nov. 26.
Cold Weather Shelter volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed for the Cold Weather Shelter, which will operate overnight from Nov. 15 to March 15 at the Western Village on the Kittitas County Fairgrounds. HopeSource is operating the shelter. Volunteer registration information is available on the HopeSource Facebook page.
Faculty art exhibit starts this week
The 2024 CWU Department of Art + Design Faculty exhibit opens on Thursday at Sarah Spurgeon Gallery. There will be a faculty artist talk at 4 p.m. in Randall Hall Room 117. A reception follows from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gallery. The biennial exhibit features recent artwork by 17 full and part-time faculty, emeritus faculty, and graduate teaching-assistants. The exhibition will remain on view through Dec.14.
High school fall play starts Thursday
The Ellensburg High School Fall Play production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” open at 7 p.m., Thursday at the Morgan Performing Arts Center. Other performances at 7 p.m., Friday, 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21, 7 p.m., Nov. 22, and 2 and 7 p.m., Nov. 23. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students.

Cle Elum advances in football playoffs
In Friday high school football, Cle Elum-Roslyn defeated Brewster, 41-23, in the first round of the state 2B playoffs. The Warriors advance to play at Asotin on Friday. Ellensburg lost to Ephrata, 29-0, and Kittitas lost to La Salle, 48-6, in the final games of the season for both teams.
Ellensburg teams take third at State Cross Country Meet
The Ellensburg High School boys and girls cross-country teams both placed third in the team competition at the state 2A meet on Saturday in Pasco. Mystic Hammond led the Bulldog boys with a third-place finish in 15:32, six seconds behind the winning time. Grace Beachy led the girls with a third-place finish in a time of 18:19, 11 seconds behind the winner.
Central football wins big
The CWU football team routed Sul Ross State, 66-0, on Saturday to improve to 6-2 in Lone Star Conference play. Quarterback Kennedy McGill threw three touchdown passes and Tyler Flanagan rushed for 90 yards. The Wildcats close out the regular season at home against Western Oregon at 1 p.m., Saturday.
CWU volleyball sweeps Alaska squads
The Central volleyball team defeated Alaska-Anchorage on Thursday, and Alaska-Fairbanks on Saturday to move into a first-place tie in the Great Northwest Conference with a 12-2 league record. The Wildcats close out the regular season with matches at Western Washington on Thursday and at Simon Fraser on Saturday.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is split pea and ham soup, garlic toast and peaches. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
