Ballots being returned

As of Friday afternoon, about 53 percent of the Nov. 5 General Election ballots had been returned to the Kittitas County Auditor’s Office. All ballots must be returned by 8 p.m., Tuesday. Drop box locations are on the Auditor’s website. In anticipation of a high traffic volume, the Kittitas County Courthouse parking lot will be closed to parking on Tuesday, and be open only for drop-off at the ballot box.


City Council meets Tuesday

The Ellensburg City Council meets at 7 p.m., tonight, in the City Hall Council Chambers. A public hearing for the 2025/2026 biennial budget is on the agenda.


Valley Theater auditions are approaching

Auditions for the Valley Theater Company’s “Peter and the Starcatcher” productions are Nov. 16 and 17. Registration information is on the Valley Theater’s website. The auditions will be in the Oddfellows Lodge.

 

Jazz Band Madness tonight on campus

The CWU Bistro features Jazz Band Madness at 7 p.m., tonight.

 

Speaker presents stories of World War II veterans

Central Washington University history graduate student Alicia Callahan presents The Forgotten Stories of World War II veterans from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, in SURC room 137A. Callahan traveled around the country this summer collecting the oral histories of World War II veterans.

 

Marine Corps birthday celebrated

CWU’s Veterans Center celebrates the Marine Corps birthday on Wednesday with cupcakes available from noon to 4 p.m. at Bouillon Hall Room 214.

 

Lecture explores Cuban art history.

The CWU Department of Art + Design hosts a lecture by art historian Asiel Sepúlveda from 4 to 5 p.m., Thursday, The talk will be screened for viewers in Randall Hall Room 117, and will also be available online via Zoom. Titled The Plantation’s Smokescreens: Art and Vision in Nineteenth Century Cuba, the talk will explore how lithographic artists crafted new ways of seeing the Cuban landscape during the nineteenth century.

                                               

Pint Night supports the Veterans Center

Iron Horse Brewery features a Pint Night to support the CWU Veterans Center from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday. For every pint sold, $1 will be donated to the CWU Veterans Foundation Fund. Music will be provided by 88.1 The Burg.

 

SPORTS

High school football results from the weekend

In high school football this past weekend, Ellensburg lost to East Valley, 41-7. The Bulldogs close their season at Ephrata at 6 p.m., Friday. Cle Elum-Roslyn defeated River View, 35-13. The Warriors travel to play Brewster at 6 p.m., Friday. Kittitas defeated Warden, 30-0. The Coyotes play at La Salle at 7 p.m., Friday.

 

In other high school sports, the Ellensburg volleyball team swept Prosser, 3-0, in the district playoffs on Saturday and host Selah at 6 p.m., Wednesday in the district championship match with a berth in the 2A state tournament on the line.

 

Central football drops a close game

A missed extra point proved to be the margin of defeat as the CWU football team fell to Angelo State, 17-16, on the road Saturday. Central trailed 17-10 late in the fourth quarter, scoring a touchdown with 34 seconds remaining but did not convert the extra point. The loss drops CWU to 5-2 and into third place in the Lone Star Conference. The Wildcats host Sul Ross State at 6 p.m., Saturday.
