Halloween Driving Tour starts Monday
The Ellensburg Haunted House Driving Tour runs from Monday through Halloween. The tour is sponsored by David and Erin Chamberlin of Coldwell Banker Central and they kick off the week by giving away goody bags from 5 to 7 p.m., today at Coldwell Banker Central, 508 N. Main St. The Chamberlin Team website includes a map of participating homes, and a link to the Ellensburg Community Radio Halloween music soundtrack. People are encouraged to vote for their favorite homes on The Chamberlin Team website.
Marine Band plays at CWU on Tuesday
The United States Marine Band, The President’s Own, performs at Nicholson Pavilion on the CWU campus at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday. The concert will feature a variety of musical selections, from John Philip Sousa marches to orchestral transcriptions and contemporary compositions. This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for entry. Tickets can be reserved online through the United States Marine Band website.

Lecture series features impactful women
CWU professor and archivist Julia Stringfellow presents Impactful Women and Their Contribution to Ellensburg as part of the Kittitas County Historical Museum’s Lecture Series at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at the museum. Register for free tickets on the museum’s website.
CWU Halloween Concert is on Wednesday
The annual CWU Symphony Orchestra Halloween Concert is at 7 p.m., Wednesday, in the McIntyre Music Building Concert Hall. The orchestra performs Halloween-themed music. Musicians will be in costume and spectators are invited to dress for the occasion as well. Tickets are $18 and are available on the CWU Music Department’s website.
Fourth Avenue closure on Wednesday
Fourth Avenue, between Main and Pearl streets, will be closed Wednesday for the installation of rooftop HVAC units on the Fitterer’s Building as part of the remodel project. The closure is scheduled for early morning.
Halloween Eve celebrated
Multiple venues feature Halloween-themed events on Wednesday night. The Sleepers perform at the Rock and Reef Brewing Halloween Party at 5 p.m. Cornerstone Italian Kitchen hosts Witches Night Out with a costume contest and photo booth at 4 p.m. Brandi Bird leads a Halloween-inspired acrylic painting session at Dru Bru-Snoqualmie Pass at 5:30 p.m.
Ballots being returned
As of Friday afternoon, about 26 percent of the Nov. 5 General Election ballots had been returned to the Kittitas County Auditor’s Office. All ballots must be returned by 8 p.m., Nov. 5.

Friday night football results
In Friday night high school football, Ellensburg fell on the road to Prosser, 49-20. Kittitas defeated Highland, 50-0. Cle Elum-Roslyn lost to La Salle, 41-7. Â This coming week Ellensburg hosts East Valley at 7 p.m., Thursday, Cle Elum-Roslyn hosts River View at 7 p.m., Friday, and Kittitas welcomes Warden at 1 p.m., Saturday. It is the final weekend of regular season play.
CWU football wins big at home
The CWU football team celebrated Homecoming on Saturday with a 42-21 win over Midwestern State. Kennedy McGill passed for 223 yards and rushed for 96. Tyler Flanagan led the ground game with 111 yards. The win improves CWU to 5-1 in Lone Star Conference, good for a tie for second. The Wildcats play first-place Angelo State in Texas at 6 p.m., Saturday.
CWU volleyball tops Montana State-Billings
The CWU volleyball team bounced back from a loss to Seattle Pacific on Thursday to defeat Montana State-Billings on Saturday in a three-set sweep. The Wildcats are in second place in the Great Northwest Conference with a 9-2 league record.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is split pea and ham soup, garlic toast and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
