Man killed in vehicle rollover

A 22-year-old Ellensburg man was killed in a one-vehicle rollover collision on Naneum Road, north of Vantage Highway, shortly after 11 p.m., Sunday, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office. Timothy Tostenson was ejected from the vehicle and killed in the collision. The Sheriff’s Office said no one else was believed to be in the truck and no other vehicles were involved. The cause of the collision is under investigation.


City is still working on Reed Park Master Plan

An online petition is circulating in regard to the city of Ellensburg’s Reed Park Master Plan, but the plan itself is not before the council. The city’s website previously indicated the master plan had reached the stage of council review and adoption, but it remains in the public meeting phase. The next open house to review the Reed Park Master Plan is 6:30 p.m., Oct. 18 at City Hall. The city has been working with the American Legion to resolve fire lane issues around its Craig’s Hill building and those revisions are slated for this month.


Welcoming students to Ellensburg

The annual Bite of the Burg is from 2 to 5 p.m., today in downtown Ellensburg. The event is an opportunity to welcome back Central Washington University students.


Night market is Wednesday

The final Ellensburg Night of the season is from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday on Pine Street between Third and Fourth Avenues. The event features vendors, a beer garden and taco bar and a kids’ zone. The Ellensburg Downtown Association organizes the event.


Warnings for night drivers

Drivers will encounter overnight closures on Wildcat Way between University Way and 18th Avenue early this week and closures of Main Street between University Way and Third Avenue later this week due to work that includes roadway grinding, full-depth pavement repair and asphalt overlay.


Voter registration is celebrated on Tuesday

National Voter Registration Day will be celebrated today with voter registration events at CWU’s Brooks Library and at the Bite of the Burg on Fourth Avenue between Pearl and Ruby streets. The League of Women Voters of Kittitas County is organizing the events.


Mini cheer clinic offered

Ellensburg High School is offering a mini cheer clinic for children ages 3 to 11 from 3:45 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 28. The participants will perform on the field during the EHS football game on Sept. 28. The cost is $60 and the registration deadline is Wednesday. Information is available off the EHS Athletics web page.


Chance for kids to play disc golf

A Youth Disc Golf League gets underway from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park. The league is for ages 10 to 18 years old and will run every Saturday through Oct. 14 with a youth tournament on Oct. 21. Cost is $25. To register, email eburgdgclub@gmail.com.


High school sports action tonight.

In high school sports action tonight, the Ellensburg High School soccer team hosts Cashmere at 4 p.m. The EHS volleyball team hosts East Valley at 6:30 p.m. The Kittitas Secondary School volleyball team welcomes White Swan at 6:30 p.m., and the Cle Elum-Roslyn High School soccer team hosts Mabton at 6 p.m.


LUNCH

The FISH Open Table lunch is an Italian chopped sandwich, roasted potatoes and apple sauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
