More than 370 third graders from across Kittitas County packed the Kittitas County Fairgrounds this week for the 23rd annual Elementary Agriculture Appreciation Day. The kids got a hands-on lesson in where their food comes from, with animals to pet, crops to see, and farm life to experience up close.
Come join Ellensburg Community Radio for First Friday with the David Owens Band at 6 p.m. at The Ink at 405 N. Main St. We hope to make a big announcement and enjoy some excellent music.
Jerrol's bookstore hosts an Autism Acceptance Day Book Signing at 1 p.m. The Washington Trails Association holds a Hiker Happy Hour at Fortuity Cellars at 5 p.m. — a fundraiser for trail lovers. And if you're feeling lucky, Bingo Thursday starts at 6 p.m. at Whipsaw Brewing.
SPORTS
The CWU Wildcats track and field team heads to Spokane on Friday for the Whitworth Peace Meet, starting at 9:55 a.m. at the Whitworth Pine Bowl. CWU softball hosts Simon Fraser University for a doubleheader on Friday at noon and 2 p.m. at Gary and Bobbi Frederick Field in Ellensburg, with another doubleheader on Saturday at the same times. The Wildcats are 7-23 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
CWU baseball, sitting at 11-17 overall and 8-8 in conference, travels to Billings, Montana on Saturday for a doubleheader against MSU Billings starting at 11 a.m. at Dehler Park.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?
The FISH Open Table lunch tomorrow is Vegetarian Chili, served with cornbread, cheese, sour cream, and green onions, with mixed whole fruit. The senior lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table at 204 North Main Street, and noon to 1 p.m. at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
