Cle Elum is asking a bankruptcy court to allow it to get employee credit cards from Umpqua Bank as the city’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy case continues. The city’s attorneys have asked for an expedited hearing on its request, with court proceedings scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7.


The Ellensburg City Council voted unanimously to approve a community engagement plan Monday after the debate whether or not to keep Diversity, Equity and Inclusion chapter in the city’s comprehensive plan became divisive among the community.


Voter Turnout for the August Primary is 22.79% as of Wednesday night, Daniel Arnold and Terry Clark both advanced in the Hospital District 1 Commissioner 1 race. The Hospital levy lift is currently passing with 53% of the vote. The Fire District 7 levy lid lift is passing with 69% of the vote.


John Sinclair and Nancy Lilliquist advance in Ellensburg Council District 1. Nancy Goodloe and Owen Blauman advanced in District 2. Incumbent Ellensburg Councilmember Delano Palmer holds an early lead over political newcomer Sam Ezell in the race for Position 3 on the Ellensburg City Council, according to initial results from Tuesday’s primary election. Palmer had 48.55% (1,138 votes) of all ballots in the first round of counting, while Ezell garnered 41.64% (976 votes).
