City Council receives Field House update

The City Council will consider options to constructing a Fieldhouse at Rotary Park. At a Monday study session, the council heard that the project has about $10 million available and is unlikely to obtain outside grant funding. The city received $7.1 million in insurance after the Racquet and Recreation Center burned down in December 2022. Kittitas County will contribute $3 million over three years. The limited money means the city needs to build the project in phases. In response to the options, the City Council requested information on a public/private partnership where the city would lease the facility. City Council member Nancy Lillquist said the city needs to place the Fieldhouse within the context of other needs, including investments in Kittitas Valley Memorial Pool.
