Kittitas School District was still on the edge of defeat following a count of additional ballots late last week in the Kittitas County Courthouse. Proposition 2, a replacement levy for instructional technology improvements, was trailing passage by three votes.
Support for Prop. 2 was at 49.89%, with 449 “yes” votes counted so far. Opposition was at 50.11%, with a total of 451 “no” votes.
Kittitas County Sheriff Clay Myers has announced he is retiring and won’t run for re-election. Myers made the announcement in a Facebook message over the weekend. In the post, he said he would retire at the end of his year when his current term expires.
The Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series returned to Central Washington University this week with novelist David Haynes, the first of four nationally recognized authors who will visit the Ellensburg campus. The series will continue this spring with appearances by poet Elizabeth Bradfield, creative nonfiction author Nora Wendl, and novelist Sonora Jha.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?

The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church.
