The Ferrous Opening Reception and Curator's Talk takes place today at 4:00 PM at the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery. Ferrous is a group exhibit of fifteen innovative contemporary artists from across the U.S. who transform iron into sculptural works of art. The exhibit will continue through February 7th.

The Cle Elum City Council is poised this week to end its six-month ban on kratom, a controversial herbal supplement. The city council was expected to pass an ordinance at this week’s council meeting to end the emergency moratorium against the sale and distribution of kratom products within city limits.


Roy Palmer will be paid $15,500 a month to serve as interim chief of Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue. Palmer was hired by the Fire District 2 board of commissioners in late December as a temporary replacement for former chief DJ Goldsmith.


The City of Ellensburg wants to remind you that defacing or placing stickers on traffic signs creates safety concerns and is illegal under state and local law. Just one sticker can make a sign appear unreadable, and it can encourage more vandalism or other problems.

Pre-School Music Explorers Winter Session takes place this morning at at 10:30 AM at Make Music Ellensburg. Ages 2-5 + their Grown-Up will sing, dance, & play instruments together, building our musical skills as well as friendships. This is on 2nd Street between Main and Pearl.

The FISH Open Table Lunch is a BLT with Chips, Broccoli Salad and Whole Fruit.  The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
