Broadband provider Lightcurve has started building out its fiber infrastructure in Ellensburg, promising speeds up to 100 times faster than current offerings.


Zimfest, a three-day biennial Zimbabwean festival, will be held on the Central Washington University campus Aug. 7 through Aug. 10.

The application portion of the City’s 2025 Chipseal Project is complete. Sweeping operations for the loose gravel remaining will begin and will take several weeks.


3rd Avenue and Lincoln Street will be closed today for the final sewer tie-in on the Anderson Road Sewer Project. The intersection will be repaved in approximately two weeks.


Local poetry group Inland Poetry will present six poets for a reading Aug. 30 at Punch Projects in Thorp. Headlining is Charles Potts, a counterculture poet known for “sad, esoteric spitfire,” Inland Poetry officials said.

Joining him are three Ellensburg heavyweights: Jampa Dorje, Xavier Cavazos, and David Coppin Lanegan, Inland’s current poet laureate.


Tim and Megan DeSelms from Ellensburg are finalists on Variety’s “America’s Best Couple” contest, a national competition where couples compete for the title and a chance to win $20,000,

The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
