The city of Cle Elum filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy Tuesday, citing a nearly $26 million debt stemming from a years-old development dispute. City council members voted unanimously Monday night to move forward with bankruptcy proceedings, which allow municipalities to reorganize their debts under court supervision.

City council members voted unanimously Monday night to move forward with bankruptcy proceedings, which allow municipalities to reorganize their debts under court supervision. 


Peers Rising, a new drug resource center in Ellensburg, held its grand opening yesterday. The center boasts an open-door policy to help as many people as possible, and offers resources to help combat substance abuse.


Anderson Road will be closed between the McGregor Company and Bid Mechanical so the City Water Department can repair the break. This is unrelated to the Anderson Road Sewer Project.


Home Care Services, a program of Senior Life Resources Northwest, has purchased a permanent building in Ellensburg to serve as its long-term base in Kittitas County.


The 15th Annual Give and Golf For Habitat for Humanity happens Sunday, June 29th with a gala at the Suncadia Resort Inn and Monday, June 30th with a golf tournament at Prospector Golf Course at Suncadia.

The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
