A Tacoma man who failed to show up in court last week for his pending criminal cases in Kittitas County is now being sought on arrest warrants totaling $100,000.
Juvenile crime has dropped by 67%, In Ellensburg and violent offenses are down 75%. However, gang activity continues to rise, underscored by a tragic juvenile gang-related murder earlier this year. The department is concentrating on tracking gang members and gathering intelligence to address the growing gang-related issues.
Utility construction on Seattle Avenue between Willow Street and Magnolia Street will continue starting March 17, 2025, requiring a road closure of Seattle Avenue.
The Yakima-Ellensburg Commuter seasonal run will end for spring break March 17th- March 31st. The seasonal run will start back up on April 1st.
The City of Ellensburg’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission is accepting grant applications for 2025 projects that create belonging through enhanced educational and intercultural opportunities or access to community resources.
Prof. Ryan Booth of WSU will be giving a talk tonight at CWU on Native Americans as scouts and soldiers in the U.S. Army. The talk will be given at Dean Hall 106 at 4:00 p.m. The title is "Crossed Arrows & Crosscurrents: US Indian Scouts, 1866-1947." Dr. Booth is an enrolled member of the Upper Skagit. He earned his M.A. in History at CWU in 2010 before doing doctoral work at Southern Methodist and WSU
A Planetarium show is schedule for 8 p.m. tonight at Discover Hall on CWU’s campus at 8 p.m.

Central Washington University will compete at the NCAA Indoor championships in Indianapolis, Indiana today.
The CWU Men’s softball team will play Northwest Nazarene tomorrow in a home game that starts at noon.
The CWU Men’s basketball team will play Chico State in San Diego tomorrow at noon. The CWU Women’s basketball team will play Point Loma in Carson CA tomorrow at noon.

The FISH Open Table Lunch is Chicken Fajita Bowl, Cheese and Oranges. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
