The race to replace Greg Zempel as Kittitas County prosecuting attorney is shaping up to be a primary showdown. Three candidates have filed: deputy prosecutors Jodi Hammond and Patricia Todd, both Republicans, and Ellensburg attorney Aaron Reiman, running as an independent. Zempel said in January he would not seek a ninth term. Todd holds a campaign kick-off tonight at 5 p.m. at the Clymer Art Museum. Candidate Filing Week runs through Friday.

Drivers in Cle Elum should plan a different route around Bullfrog Road. The Pine Ranch Development, formerly known as Bullfrog Flats, started construction this week on a new roundabout. Both directions of Bullfrog Road will stay open through a bypass using Pine Ranch Road, Saddleback Drive, and Ponderosa Way. The county Department of Public Works says the project will take about three months.
