Luminary fundraiser is today

A luminary fundraiser to support breast cancer research starts at 6 tonight outside of City Hall. People can sponsor a luminary bag for $5. Information on how to support is on the city of Ellensburg’s website.

Learn about the plight of pygmy rabbits

The Kittitas County Audubon Society will present “The Pygmy Odyssey: A small rabbit’s journey back to the sagebrush,” at 7 tonight at the Hal Holmes Community Center. State Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist Katherine Soltysiak will talk about the recovery of the Columbia Basin pygmy rabbit population over the past 20 years.


Still time to register to vote

The last day to register to vote in the General Election or to transfer registration to a new address is Monday. Registration can be done online at votewa.gov or in person at the Kittitas County Auditor’s Office in the courthouse.


Hunters breakfast at wind farm

Puget Sound Energy and the Kittitas Field and Stream Club are hosting a free Hunter Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., Friday at the Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center. Hunting is allowed on the 11,000-acre wind farm property but hunting access permits must be filled out online. Permits will not be available at the visitor center.


Kiwanis party Friday

The Kiwanis Costume Party is at 6 p.m., Friday at the Hal Holmes Center. There will be snacks, music, dancing and games at this free event.


Take a scary drive

People can vote for their favorite Halloween homes during the Haunted House Driving Tour from Friday through Halloween. Ellensburg Community Radio has created a Halloween soundtrack to accompany the tour. The tour is being sponsored by Chamberlin Team Real Estate and Coldwell Banker Center Information on downloading the tour map and music playlist is on the Chamberlin Team Real Estate website.


A day to dispose of medications

The Kittitas County Health Network is offering a Drug Take Back and Paper Shred Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday at Community Health of Central Washington on Mountain View Avenue. People can bring outdated or unused medication for disposal. Paper shredding also is available.


Last market of the season

The final Ellensburg Farmers Market of the season is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Ellensburg. The market will return on May 4, 2024.


Animal rescue fundraiser Saturday

The Josie’s Misfit Ranch Halloween Party and Fundraiser is 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday at Hal Holmes Community Center.

Today’s high school sports action

In high school sports today, the Cle Elum-Roslyn soccer team looks to complete an undefeated regular season by hosting Highland at 6 p.m. The Kittitas volleyball team travels to Quincy for a 6:30 p.m. match.


Different nights under the lights

High school football schedules will differ on this final week of the regular season. Kittitas gets the action underway, hosting White Swan at 7 tonight. Ellensburg plays Friday at 7 p.m. in Ephrata. The Easton six-team team ends it first season at Clallum Bay at 7 p.m., Friday, and Cle Elum-Roslyn finishes the regular season at 1 p.m., Saturday at Granger.


Roller Derby opens season on Sunday

The Roller City Roller Derby opens its season with a Halloween Bout against Atomic City Roller Derby on Sunday at Ellensburg High School. Doors open at 11 p.m. and the bout starts at 2 p.m. Costumes are encouraged and there is a halftime costume contest. Tickets are $5 in advance online or $10 at the door.
