The Central Washington University Board of Trustees is expected to vote to increase student tuition at the board’s quarterly meeting this week in Ellensburg. Tuition for resident undergraduates is expected to increase by 3.3% for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Ballots come in the mail this week with local elected positions on the ballot throughout the Kittitas Valley. Ellensburg Transit is also on the ballot. The proposition will maintain existing bus, ADA paratransit, and 24/7 Cabulance services, Upgrade frequencies, expand routes and reduce traffic congestion and pollution.

The Swauk-Teanaway Grange will host an open house Thursday that will detail major aquatic restoration projects underway in the Teanaway Community Forest. The community meeting is planned for 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Cle Elum officials are considering forming a new taxing district to raise money for transportation projects. The city has been exploring the idea of establishing a Transportation Benefit District (TBD), which would lead to the creation of a new government entity that could seek public revenue to pay for infrastructure projects, maintenance, and preservation

The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
