KITTCOM has completed its first major infrastructure upgrade since Kittitas County voters approved a sales tax to fund emergency radio system repairs: a full overhaul of the Sky Meadows radio repeater site. In April 2024, voters approved a two-tenths of 1% sales tax dedicated to improving the county’s aging 911 emergency radio infrastructure. At the time, officials warned that large portions of the county were plagued by unreliable coverage, making it difficult, if not impossible, for first responders to communicate in certain areas.
