The City of Ellensburg invites the community to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Water Street Overlay Project and the installation of the new Ellensburg Central Transit bus stop and sidewalk in front of the Kittitas County Courthouse on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the northeast corner of Water Street and 5th Avenue.
Cle Elum will continue to take public input on the controversial proposal for a proposed smoke shop across the street from The Shop Teen Center. The Cle Elum City Council approved a six-month ban on new retail stores that sell vaping products in August amid public outcry over the new store.
Ellensburg will no longer rely solely on door-tag shutoff warnings to people who get behind on their utility bills.
At their first meeting of the month, Ellensburg councilmembers approved a change that allows city staff to make phone-call warnings to people who are delinquent on their utility bills.
Buskers in the Burg is back this year. The family friendly event will be held at Unity Park, with live music, magic, puppetry and fun for all. The first event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. This yearly celebration is free to the public and will offer performances of live street acts, larger-than-life puppets and nonstop entertainment.

The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
