A case of measles has been confirmed in Kittitas County, county health officials announced Friday afternoon. The person is “currently ill and staying home to heal,” according to the Kittitas County Public Health Department. The health department said it was working closely with the person and their household members to monitor the situation.
A deputy coroner in the Kittitas County Coroner’s Office has filed a whistleblower complaint against Coroner Cori McKean, alleging that McKean did not follow proper procedures when she hired a chief deputy coroner in early March. In the March 26 complaint to county commissioners, the complaint said the new employee was hired without submitting an application and that McKean had emailed Human Resources directly “and instructed them to process the hire.”
PUNCH has handed over its gallery space in Thorp this month to guest curators Margot Massey and David Coppin Lanegan for an exhibition that combines visual art with written poems. The show “BLACK LAND/RED LAND” opens from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 4. Viewers are invited to experience the natural alchemy between two forms of art created separately from one another.
The Valley Sharp Knife Sharpening Pop-Up takes place at 3:00 PM at the Dru Bru Cle Elum Taproom.
It’s Trivia Tuesday at the Mule at 5:30 p.m., at Rock and Reef and 6 p.m. and at the Roslyn Eagles up in Roslyn at 7 p.m.
SPORTS
The CWU Wildcat baseball team wrapped up a road series at Montana State Billings over the weekend and sits at 15-16 overall and 9-7 in GNAC play. The Wildcats are off until Friday, April 10th, when they host a doubleheader with Western Oregon starting at noon at the CWU Baseball Field.
The Wildcat softball team split a doubleheader with Simon Fraser on Saturday after dropping one and winning one on Friday. The team stands at 10-23 on the season but has been competitive in conference play. Their next game is Saturday, April 11th, at 1 p.m. against Saint Martin’s in Lacey
CWU Track and Field competed Saturday and returns to action this Friday and Saturday, April 10th and 11th, at the CWU Wildcat Invitational

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?
The FISH Open Table lunch tomorrow is Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli and Whole Fruit. The senior lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table at 204 North Main Street, and noon to 1 p.m. at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
