Ellensburg Community Morning Show, Tuesday, Dec. 24




NEWS

City of Ellensburg offices will close at noon today and will be closed on Christmas Day. There is no Central Transit fixed route or paratransit service on Christmas Day. The Adult Activity Center is closed Dec. 24 through 26th. Kittitas County offices will be closed all day today and Christmas Day, with the exception of court services which will close at noon on Christmas Eve.


Christmas Eve with Santa in Roslyn

Christmas Eve with Santa and the Roslyn Fire Department starts at 7 p.m., tonight in front of the NWIC Building.


Pool movie on Saturday

The Kittitas Valley Memorial Pool hosts a Family Swim Float-In Movie from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday. “Finding Nemo” will be shown during the swimming session.


Another case of pertussis reported

A case of pertussis connected with Discover Lab has been reported to the Kittitas County Health Department. The health department recommends that any child who has attended Discovery Lab in the last two weeks get tested for pertussis. In addition, it is recommended that families who have had children at Discovery Lab at any time during the past two weeks stay home and not attend any events or gatherings through the end of the year. The case does not appear to be linked to the recent pertussis case with the Ellensburg High School wrestling team. 


SPORTS

Ellensburg teams to play at Nicholson

The Ellensburg High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will compete in the Central Washington Basketball Invitational at Nicholson Pavilion on Friday and Saturday along with Sehome, Eastmont and Hermiston, Oregon. Games start at 9 a.m. each day.


LUNCH

The FISH Open Table Lunch is closed today and on Christmas Day. It reopens on Thursday.


WEATHER                                                                                          

The forecasted high today in Ellensburg is 41 degrees. Sunset is at 4:17 p.m., and the expected nighttime low is 28 degrees. Winds will be light and variable. There is a 60 percent chance of rain. The Christmas Day forecast calls for a high of 36, a low of 33 and an 80 percent chance of snow during the day and 100 percent overnight.
