NEWS

Attorneys on both sides of the city of Cle Elum’s bankruptcy case have asked for the extension of key deadlines in the proceedings. Under the new deadlines, those who want to challenge the city’s eligibility for a Chapter 9 bankruptcy will have until Feb. 28 to file objections. The new deadline for the city of Cle Elum to file its plan for paying off its debt is May 30.

Historian-turned-dean-turned-podcaster Marji Morgan never imagined her “Lines on Wines” newspaper column would become the longest-running show on Ellensburg Community Radio. She is celebrating her 200th episode this Wednesday, at 5 p.m. on eburgradio.org. Morgan caught the wine bug when she was working at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1988. She started three wine groups, each for a different purpose, and partnered with her local wine shop to host tasting events at her house. The show has evolved from just interviews with winemakers and grape growers to include more diverse aspects of the Washington wine industry and touch on issues such as women and wine, effects of wildfire smoke on vineyards and wines, and the role of barrels in winemaking.

The Keen Winter Camp happens today at 8:45 a.m. It’s a two-session winter adventure filled with outdoor fun, science, and cozy camp vibes. Kids will explore the Yakima Canyon in its quiet winter beauty—tracking animal footprints, learning how wildlife adapts to the cold, building snow shelters (weather permitting), and warming up with hot cocoa around the campfire.
