The Ellensburg City Council unanimously approved its priorities for the Legislature’s 2026 Session at the council’s meeting this week. The priorities include a request for $1 million in Capital Budget funding for construction of a fifth aerator, a component of upgrades planned for the city’s wastewater treatment plant, as well as $150,000 to use for design work for the replacement of the Kittitas Valley Memorial Pool.
A new broadband expansion project backed by state and local funding is set to deliver high-speed internet to nearly 500 unserved households in rural Kittitas County, marking a major step in closing the region’s long-standing digital divide.
The City of Ellensburg has secured $438,000 in grant funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce, paired with a $145,000 local match, to build a hybrid fiber-optic and fixed wireless network northwest of the city limits.
Ellensburg community contra dances will continue for their 28th season this weekend at the Hal Holmes Community Center. The next dance is 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.
Central Washington Dance Academy will present “The Nutcracker” this weekend in Ellensburg. The cast of nearly 40 is filled with students from the dance academy, with some being seasoned veterans of previous performances of Tchaikovsky’s classic two-act ballet.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?
The FISH Open Table Lunch schedule is not out for December but we know the lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
