Central Washington University will host Jennifer King, the first full-time Black female assistant coach in the NFL, at an upcoming program as part of Black History Month. King made history in 2021 when she was hired after she worked as an intern for the Washington Football Team (later renamed the Washington Commanders) in 2020.
Most of the palm oil that spilled after a semi-truck went off the road and into an icy pond next to Interstate 90 was cleaned up by Friday morning, according to the Washington Department of Ecology. A semi pulling two trailers went off I-90 near Milepost 107 on Wednesday near Ellensburg. State officials said the semi crossed four lanes of highway and came to rest in a retention pond that was about 4 feet deep. The driver was not injured.
Two electric vehicle charging stations will be built on Interstate 90 in Ellensburg and Cle Elum as part of plan to install 14 stations along highways in Washington state. The Washington State Department of Transportation announced Thursday it had awarded five companies a total of $12.16 million to build the stations. Federal funding from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program will cover the costs.

BookWorm takes place tonight at 4:00 PM at the Ellensburg Public Library. It’s a fun, free, after-school book club for 1st through 5th grades. Kids will read from age-appropriate chapter books, have a snack, discuss the reading, and participate in an activity related to the story

The Central Washington University’s Women’s Basketball team plays Western Washington University on Thursday in Bellingham at 7 p.m.
The Central Washington University Women’s Softball Team plays NAIA Eastern Oregon at home on Friday at Noon.
The Central Washington University’s Mens’s Basketball team plays Alaska Anchorage at 8 p.m. on Thursday in Anchorage.
