Ellensburg Community Morning Show, Tuesday, January 20th

The CWU Department of Music will welcome a special guest to the Ellensburg campus today, when Grammy-nominated producer Sergei Kvitko delivers a lecture and recital in the McIntyre Music Building Recital Hall. At 2 p.m., the world-renowned pianist will speak to members of the CWU community about his musical production career. Then at 6 p.m., Kvitko will present a free piano recital titled “Exit Music (for the End of Time)

NEWS

The new Bullfrog Road overpass above westbound Interstate 90 near Cle Elum opened ahead of schedule this week after emergency repairs were finished on the truck-struck span. A semi with an overheight load hit the bridge in October, and inspections showed the overpass required replacement.

The Ellensburg City Council meets tonight at 7:00 PM at the Ellensburg City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting will include decisions on the Cabulance, Parambulance, and Public Transit Operating Agreements between the City of Ellensburg and HopeSource, an amendment to the City Janitorial Contract, and the collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters 760 (the police union).

A Grain to Flame Pizza Making Class occurs at 6:00 PM at the Iron Horse Tap Room. This class will have you making your own pizza from scratch and baking it in Swiftfired Pizza's wood-fired oven. Also, beer goes well with pizza, which is convenient since this event is taking place at a brewery.

Pre-School Storytime and Crafts takes place today at 11:15 AM up at the Roslyn Public Library. Join Deborah Parrish for story time and fun craft projects with Josey Kalmback. This program is geared towards preschoolers with parental supervision.

SPORTS

The Central Washington University Track and Field Team competes at the Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Thursday. 

The Central Washington University’s  Women’s Basketball team play St. Martins in Ellensburg on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.

The Central Washington University’s Men’s Basketball team plays St. Martins in Ellensburg on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?

The FISH Open Table Lunch is a Ground Beef Mashed Potato Bowl with Peas, Garlic, and Whole Fruit.  The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
