Fire destroys three homes

Three trailer homes were destroyed in a fire at Hillcrest Mobile Park on Cascade Court on Monday morning. No residents or firefighters were injured. Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue crews suppressed the fire and remained onsite throughout the day to provide overhaul work. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Red Cross is providing services to the displaced families.


Chip-seal program runs this week

Ellensburg’s annual chip-seal program runs through Thursday. Residents are asked to move their vehicles off the affected street and not to water their lawns near the street on the day the chip seal is scheduled. The chip-seal schedule on Wednesday is Main Street, from University Way to Water, First Avenue, from Main to the east dead end, and Second Avenue, from Main to the east dead end. The full schedule for the week is on the city’s website.


Coffee with Council on Wednesday

This month’s Coffee with City Council is from 8 to 10 a.m., Wednesday at The Early Bird. The event features two council members sharing coffee and conversation with the public.


Mountain Climbing 101

Ellensburg’s Jeff Hashimoto will present Mountain Climbing 101 as part of the Ellensburg Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Hal Holmes Community Center. Hashimoto will discuss the skills and tools needed to climb the mountain of your choice.


Ellensburg Blusers perform in park

This week’s Summer Concert in the Parks features Ellensburg Blusers from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at North Alder Street Park. People are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, dinner and dancing shoes to this family-friendly free concert.


Ellensburg Music Festival starts Friday

The Ellensburg Music Festival starts Friday night in downtown Ellensburg and continues through Saturday night. The festival features jazz, blues, soul, rock, Latin and country performers. Performances are 6 p.m. to midnight, Friday, noon to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. There are outdoor venues at Ridge Restaurant parking lot on Pine and Fourth, and the Red Pickle parking lot on Pine and Third. Indoor venues include the Odd Fellows Lodge, The Ramsey Building upstairs, Gallery One, the Clymer Museum, the Pearl Bar and Grill and Gard Vintners. Cle Elum Roundup rodeo this weekend

The Cle Elum Roundup Rodeo is Friday and Saturday at the Washington State Horse Park. The PRCA/WPRA Rodeo Grand Entry is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, followed by rodeo competition. Tickets are not needed for slack at 9 a.m., Saturday. The evening performance started at 6:30 p.m. Ticket information is on the Cle Elum Roundup website.

 

LUNCH                                                        

The FISH Open Table Lunch is ham and Swiss wrap, potato salad and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
