The Kittitas School Board has picked Tim Praino to take over as interim superintendent. The board voted unanimously to award Praino a one-year contract at a special meeting Thursday.
Family and friends of Ellensburg’s first pediatrician gathered at Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park to dedicate a memorial bench in his honor last week. Throughout his long career, Dr. Rudy Vernie at Taylor-Richardson clinic. made house calls, saw poor college students for free, offered free sports physicals to any child, and would treat families as well as their children.
The City of Ellensburg street crews will perform annual chipseal of roadways on July 22-24 between the hours of 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
