The Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners has agreed to send a letter in support of Central Washington University's effort to get $3 million in funding for its Old Heat Commercialization Center in Ellensburg. The university and its team of partners have been working to renovate the historic Old Heat facility on the CWU campus into a business incubator space. A recent feasibility study noted the proposed center could create hundreds of high-wage jobs in aerospace and precision component manufacturing, clean technology and other targeted sectors.
Tickets for the 2026 Ellensburg Rodeo will go on sale Monday, March 16. The rodeo will be held Thursday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 7
Ellensburg may help close a budget hole in the Ellensburg Rodeo Grandstands improvement project. The Ellensburg City Council will review a request for $500,000 in funding for the project at their meeting next week. Renovations to the rodeo arena began right after the close of last year’s rodeo. The price tag for the upgraded grandstands had been estimated at $13.5 million, but unplanned design and construction requirements have increased costs by another $1.4 million, according to Kittitas County officials.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?
The FISH Open Table Lunch lunch is Corned Beef, a roll and applesauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
