NEWS
The Central Washington University Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting tomorrow afternoon at 4:15 p.m. to discuss a plan for restoring trust between university leadership and faculty. The meeting comes after a faculty-wide vote in February in which 81.6 percent of participating faculty members cast votes of no confidence in President James Wohlpart. The Board affirmed its support for Wohlpart at a meeting last week, and Chairman Jeff Hensler has said the board is committed to working with faculty leaders to chart a path forward.
Settlement talks continue this week in the City of Cle Elum's bankruptcy case involving City Heights Holdings, the developer behind a planned 962-home development. City Heights claims the city owes more than $25 million and has accused the city of negotiating in bad faith. Cle Elum had offered $250,000 a year for 15 years, totaling $3.75 million. A hearing on the dispute is expected this week in federal bankruptcy court.
The City of Ellensburg is inviting residents to help shape the future of the community through Ellensburg 2046, the city's comprehensive plan update. The city has launched a series of online mini-polls on topics including Land Use and Infrastructure, Economic Development, and Community Voices. The polls are available in both English and Spanish through the city's website.
Around town tomorrow evening, the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce hosts a Farmstand Workshop at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamber offices. Toastmaster's International meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Hal Holmes Community Center. It's Bingo Thursday at Whipsaw Brewing starting at 6 p.m. And the Speakers Bureau presents "How Women Won the Marathon" at 6 p.m. as a virtual event.
SPORTS
The CWU Wildcats baseball team picked up a thrilling 15-14 win over Eastern Oregon on Tuesday, improving to 9-15 overall and 6-6 in GNAC conference play with a two-game winning streak. The Wildcats are off tomorrow but return to action Friday and Saturday with a four-game home series against Northwest Nazarene, with doubleheaders at noon and 3 p.m. both days. CWU softball is 7-19 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Wildcats travel to Bellingham Friday and Saturday to take on Western Washington in a four-game conference series. In track and field, the Wildcats are off until the Whitworth Peace Meet in Spokane on April 4th.
WEATHER
The forecasted high tomorrow in Ellensburg is 51 degrees with a low of 28 degrees. Expect mainly sunny skies but much colder temperatures. The sunset is at 7:23 p.m. with northwest winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour.
WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?
The FISH Open Table lunch tomorrow is Broccoli and Cheese Loaded Potatoes — a baked potato stuffed with broccoli cheddar sauce, served with a roll and pears. The senior lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table at 204 North Main Street, and noon to 1 p.m. at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
