Cle Elum Mayor Matthew Lundh will take the witness stand at the start of the hearing on the challenge to the city’s Chapter 9 petition for bankruptcy. During a telephonic conference Thursday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Washington, Judge Whitman L. Holt detailed the layout of the upcoming hearing where attorneys for the city of Cle Elum will give evidence on why the city is eligible for bankruptcy.


The Kittitas Secondary School chapter of FCCLA brought home five gold and two silver medals from the state leadership conference held earlier this month. Students competed across multiple categories and represented the school well on the state stage. Congratulations to the students and their advisors.


John Littel has been reappointed to the Kittitas County Housing Authority Board. As an Ellensburg resident, Littel will serve a five-year term running through April 2031.

The Gather and Grow Series continues tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Wildcat Farm on the CWU campus, where participants will learn about planting onions. It's free and open to the public.


Industry Appreciation Day takes place at Valo Tasting Room at 3 p.m. Stop by to celebrate local industry in the valley.


Trivia Tuesday is at Rock and Reef Brewing at 6 p.m. in downtown Ellensburg, or if you're in the upper county, head to the Roslyn Eagles at 7 p.m. for their Tuesday night trivia.


SPORTS


The CWU Wildcats have no home games this week, but there's plenty of action coming up. The baseball team, sitting at 11-17 overall and 8-8 in the GNAC, split a four-game series with Northwest Nazarene over the weekend, winning Friday's opener 3-2 and Saturday's finale 9-8. They travel to Montana State Billings for a four-game conference series April 3rd and 4th, with doubleheaders starting at noon and 3 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.


The softball team is 7-23 overall and 1-7 in conference play after dropping four games at Western Washington last weekend. They return home April 3rd and 4th to host Simon Fraser in a four-game GNAC series at Gary and Bobbi Frederick Field, with doubleheaders starting at noon and 2 p.m.


CWU track and field heads to Spokane on Saturday, April 4th, for the Whitworth Peace Meet, then returns home April 10th and 11th for the CWU Wildcat Invitational at the Recreation Sports Complex.

 

WEATHER                                                                                          


The forecasted high tomorrow in Ellensburg is 52 degrees with a low of 35 degrees. Mostly cloudy skies early will give way to partly cloudy conditions in the afternoon. The sunset is at 7:30 p.m. with winds from the west at 5 to 10 miles per hour. WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?


The FISH Open Table lunch tomorrow is Chicken and Wild Rice, made with cream, mushrooms, thyme, and roasted garlic, served with green beans and peaches. The senior lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table at 204 North Main Street, and noon to 1 p.m. at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
