U.S. Senator Patty Murray toured Kittitas Valley Healthcare last week to hear from rural providers about cuts to Medicare and Medicaid passed last summer. KVH CEO Jason Adler told Murray the hospital expects its uninsured rate to double and its financial assistance budget to climb from $3 million to $5.5 million. Emergency Department nurse DeDe Feddema described keeping a suicidal teen in the ER for over a week because there were no inpatient psychiatric beds anywhere from Seattle to Tacoma. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Andrew Thomas said the rural healthcare staffing pipeline leaks at every joint, starting in medical school. Murray promised to take what she heard back to Washington, D.C.

His expanded menu adds guiso, tortas, soups, and seafood dishes like ceviche and aguachile to the basic street tacos. El Loco is open noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
