NEWS
The Ellensburg City Council will consider scrapping plans for a year-round emergency shelter facility at its next meeting in order to focus on a seasonal cold weather shelter instead.
City facilities are closed on Monday, May 26, 2025 for the Memorial Day holiday. City facilities will reopen on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. There is no Ellensburg Central Transit fixed route or paratransit service on May 26. Regular service will resume on May 27.
The Yakima Training Center will be suspending all recreational activities beginning June 1 due to an expected increase in military training and a shortage of police and security officers.
Touch A Truck and the Bike Rodeo will be held at Rotary Park on June 18 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children can see, touch, climb on, and learn about public agency vehicles and equipment in a safe environment. The event is free to attend.

SPORTS
Ellensburg Boys Track and Field had many qualifiers at the CWAC District Prelims May 16th at Ephrata. Top 8 athletes advance to the District Championships May 23rd in Prosser.
Ellensburg Girls track & field had great performances at the District Prelims on May 16th in Ephrata. The top 8 from this meet move on to the District Finals May 23rd in Prosser.
CWU’s Track and Field team will compete At USA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, OR on Saturday, June 21st.

LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is a loaded baked potato with a roll and pears The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
