NEWS
Today is the last day to vote in the November 2025 election. Ballots need to be postmarked today or dropped in a local ballot drop box by 8 p.m.
Work to replace the decking on the Vantage Bridge on Interstate 90 is wrapping up for the winter, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Friday.
Contractor crews have halted all construction activities until more favorable weather returns. All lanes have reopened to traffic, and workers also removed the 9-foot width restrictions on the span.
Kittitas County commissioners will meet this week to consider a resolution on setting new salaries for elected officials. The proposed pay change does not include judges, county commissioners and the prosecutor. Salaries have been under review by the Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Salaries for Election Officials. The committee has recommended a 3% increase for the elected offices of assessor, auditor, clerk, coroner, sheriff and treasurer.
Water restrictions in the Yakima Basin came to an end Friday, but state officials are warning that the three-year drought in the area may extend into 2026. The Washington Department of Ecology ordered an unprecedented halt to surface water use on Oct. 6. The restrictions expired Oct. 31, and Ecology officials said cities, towns and other surface water right holders with a year-round authorization may resume diverting water.

CWU Women's Soccer tied Western Oregon 1-1 on Saturday.
CWU’s Women’s Volleyball won 3-0 over Montana State - Billings on Saturday.
CWU’s Men’s Basketball beat RV Central Oklahoma 78-65 and lost to St. Edwards 68-47 over the weekend.
WEATHER

LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is White Chicken Chili with Tortillas and Plums. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
