Kittitas County Public Works Director Josh Fredrickson has taken over as interim county engineer following the departure of Cameron Curtis. Curtis was hired at county engineer in March 2024. At the Public Works Study Session for the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners earlier this week, Fredrickson said a search for a new county engineer was underway.


A bankruptcy judge has been appointed in the city of Cle Elum’s bankruptcy case to assist in resolving disputes between the city and City Heights Holdings. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Benjamin P. Hursh was appointed Aug. 28 to the Chapter 9 case in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Washington


The city of Ellensburg is hosting a second Community Conversation Workshop next week. The workshop will give community members the opportunity to participate in a structured conversation about the proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan related to diversity, equity and inclusion. The meeting is 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 in the Hal Holmes Community Center, 209 N Ruby St.


Ellensburg’s artist community was featured in yesterday’s Seattle Times with mentions of Ellensburg Community Radio’s Audio art walk, the Blue Bear Puppet Lab, the Punch Gallery and Maria Christalli, a Cle Elum Artist.

The Central Washington University’s Women’s Volleyball team will play San Francisco State on Thursday in Bellingham followed by a game on Friday versus Cal Poly Pomona.


The Cross Country Home Opener is Saturday vs St. Cloud State.


Central Washington’s Football team plays away on Saturday vs FCS Montana in Missoula.
