The developer who owns Mission Ridge Ski Area has proposed a 7,812-bed urban-style village adjacent to the ski area. It would transform the upper portion of Mission Ridge into a community double the size of Leavenworth, with traffic estimated to be twice that of Stevens Pass. The public comment period for this project was opened on September 6 and will run until October 21st.


The Labor Mountain Fire is currently 10 miles north of Cle Elum and has 624 personnel fighting the disaster, including the Northwest Team 2 Complex Incident Management Team, which has contained the fire at 7%. Heavy smoke, hazardous trees and falling rocks have caused US Highway 97 to remain closed due to unsafe roads. The road is closed from milepost 149 to 178.


The Ellensburg Police Department announced this week that it is partnering with the Ellensburg Morning Rotary Club to launch the city’s graffiti abatement program. According to a news release from the Ellensburg Police, the initiative is designed to restore the community's beauty by removing graffiti that has impacted local neighborhoods and businesses for years.

CWU’s Women’s Volleyball overcame Northwest Nazarene at 1 p.m. on  3-0 Saturday


CWU’s Football team beat Wstern New Mexico  91-31 in Silver City, New Mexico  on Saturday.

LUNCH


The FISH Open Table Lunch is ground beef stroganoff with peas and carrots and peaches. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
