The Ellensburg Public Library is excited to announce the winner of the 2025 library card design contest—Megan Pickerel-Winer, whose design features a quail reading a book.


Ellensburg will join with supporters of a new recreation center in Upper Kittitas County to seek the creation of a countywide public facilities district. The creation of a public facilities district would allow the city to raise money to help pay for a new recreation center, as well as a new pool.


A new Supercharger Electric Vehicle charging station is coming soon to Ellensburg. Permits were issued last month for a 16-stall station at the Fred Meyer on S Water St.


Ellensburg Councilmembers will gather to meet with residents at another session of Coffee with City Council next week. The session is 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Ellensburg Public Library.


Habitat For Humanity cut the ribbon on six new affordable homes for families at Stuart Meadows yesterday


The Bureau of Reclamation’s September 2025 forecast of total water supply available for the Yakima Basin indicates the water supply will not fully meet irrigation demands this season, officials have announced. The Total Water Supply Available for the May 20–September period indicates senior water rights will receive 100% full entitlements, but junior water rights will receive 40% of their full entitlements.


A Red Cross Blood Drive takes place today at 10:00 AM at the Hal Holmes Community Center.


The Ellensburg Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee occurs at 3:00 PM at the Ellensburg Council Chambers


The Roslyn City Council meets tonight at 5:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at Roslyn City Hall


A Book Launch Event takes place tonight from 5:30pm - 7pm. The book is  Edible Plants of the Northwest by author Natalie Hammerquist. This takes place up in Roslyn at the Roslyn Library. 


SPORTS


Othello beat the Ellensburg Boys Football team this past weekend 49-0.  The game was called with 8:14 remaining due to lightning in the area


Central Washington’s football team lost this past weekend 42-17.


The Central Women’s Volleyball team lost 3-2 vs. St. Cloud State but won 3-0 over Cal Poly Pomona on Friday.

LUNCH


The FISH Open Table Lunch is a Teriyaki Meatballs, Tomato Jasmine Rice and Mandarin Oranges. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
