Downtown Ellensburg will host the Holiday Night Market on Wednesday and the Holiday Girls Night Out on Thursday.

Council members sworn in

Recently elected Ellensburg City Council members were sworn in at Monday’s meeting. Rich Elliott and Sarah Beauchamp were re-elected and Joshua Thompson was newly elected.


Pay increases approved

The City Council approved a resolution Monday night granting non-represented employees a 3.6 percent cost of living increase for the coming year. Non-represented employees are those not covered by a union contract.


Limited service at the finance/utility counter

The finance/utility counter at City Hall will provide limited service Thursday through Monday and will full fully closed on Monday to allow for the implementation of a new online utility customer portal.


Community Christmas sponsors still needed

FISH Food Bank still needs donors for the annual Community Christmas program. As of this weekend, sponsors had signed up for 234 families, but 188 families are still in need. The program provides gifts for children and seniors. More information is available on the FISH Facebook page.


Night Market is Wednesday

The first Holiday Night Market of the season is from 5 to 8 p.m., tonight, at Gard Vintners and the Ridge Encore at 404 N. Pine St. The event features vendors with handmade goods, sweet treats and more.


All aboard Polar Express

The Ellensburg Library is presenting a special story event Thursday with the reading of “The Polar Express.” There will be activities and treats for kids in grades K-4, starting at 4 p.m.


Girls Night Out is Thursday

The annual Holiday Girls Night Out is 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday in downtown Ellensburg. Check is at the Ellensburg Downtown Association office at 109 E. Third

Avenue where there will be refreshments and music. Participating businesses offer deals and discounts.


CWU Jazz Holiday Concert is Friday

The Central Washington University Jazz Band 1 will perform Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite as well as other holiday classic, at 7 p.m., Friday in the McIntyre Music Building. Tickets are $15 for general admission.


Annual Beef Counts distribution is Friday

The annual Beef Counts distribution is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday at Armory Building at the Kittitas Valley Events Center. Beef Counts is a cooperative effort between the Cattlemen’s Association and Second Harvest. The boxes include produce, perishable groceries and chubs of ground beef.


“Rented Christmas” on stage this weekend

Boulet Theatre Productions is presenting “Rented Christmas: The Musical,” with performances starting Friday at the Cle Elum Masonic Building above the Cle Elum Post Office. There will be shows nightly at 7 p.m., Friday through Monday, with a 3 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $10.


Winter Farmers Market Saturday

The annual Winter Market is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at Teanaway Hall in the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The event is hosted by the Ellensburg Farmers Market.


Christmas comes to Kittitas

The annual Christmas in Kittitas celebration is Saturday. A highlight of the event is the lighted parade at 5 p.m. on Main Street. Santa Claus and the Grinch also will be available for photos at 4 p.m. at the New Life Church.

Santa Claus will be available for photos from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday at Dru-Bru Cle Elum. People can use their personal phone or camera to take the photo. The event is free but donations will be accepted for the Cle Elum Fire Department.


Plan ahead for beer fest

Tickets are now on sale for Winterhop Brewfest on Feb. 17 in downtown Ellensburg. The brewfest has a limited number of tickets and usually sells out well in advance of the event. Ticketing information is available on the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce website.


LUNCH

The FISH Open Table Lunch is beef stew, garlic toast and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
