Community Thanksgiving is today

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner is from 3 to 6 p.m., today at the Armory at the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The dinner is free to the public and all are welcome to attend. Multiple volunteer shifts and duties are available. Contact the Adult Activity Center at 962-7242 to register to help.


Moments to Remember is on Friday

Ellensburg’s annual Moments to Remember celebration is from 4 to 7:30 p.m., Friday in Unity Park and downtown Ellensburg. The event includes the annual tree lighting and caroling by Make Music Ellensburg’ Valley Voice Choir, performances by the Ellensburg Dance Ensemble and DubStep Studio in the State Farm window and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus.


Thanksgiving at Time Out Saloon

The Time Out Saloon in Kittitas offers a free Thanksgiving dinner for all Kittitas County families from 2 to 6 p.m., Thursday. Everyone is welcome to this family-friendly event.


Roslyn features Parade of Lights on Friday

The Roslyn Old Town Christmas celebration includes a Parade of Lights at 6:10 p.m. in the downtown. Other festivities include Christmas poems at 5 p.m., the Mountain Voices Children’s Choir at 5:10 p.m., Mel Peterson at 5:30 p.m. and a tree lighting with Santa and Olaf at 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Roslyn Downtown Association. The Roslyn Theatre will show “Elf” for free at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.


Shop with a Cop and Firefighter needs community support

Donations are needed to help support this year’s Shop wth a Cop and Firefighter. Donation information is on the Kittitas County Shop with a Cop and a Firefighter Facebook page.


City facilities closed for holiday

City Hall and City facilities are closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday. City facilities will reopen on Dec. 2. There is no Central Transit fixed route or paratransit service on Thursday. Regular service will resume on Friday.


CWU student publications honored

Central Washington University’s student newspaper, The Observer, and magazine, Pulse were honored at the National College Media Convention in New Orleans earlier in November. The Observer took third place in the national Four-Year Campus Newspaper Best in Show category, and PULSE placed fourth in the national Four-Year Campus Feature Magazine category.

 

SPORTS

CWU women host Thanksgiving tournament

The Central women’s basketball team hosts the CWU Thanksgiving Tournament welcoming Western Washington, Westminster and Biola on Friday and Saturday at Nicholson Pavilion. The Wildcats play Westminster at 2 p.m., Friday, and Biola at 2 p.m., Saturday.


LUNCH

The FISH Open Table Lunch is roast turkey, stuffing, gravy, green beans, a roll and applesauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location. The Ellensburg and Cle Elum meal sites will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
