NEWS
Kittitas County, Ellensburg and Central Washington University are taking part this month in the fifth anniversary of Operation Green Light. Operation Green Light — sponsored by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers — is a national show of support for veterans. Buildings are illuminated with green light from Nov. 5 through Nov. 11 to honor the men and women who selflessly served our country and their communities.
At Central Washington University, a major new geothermal energy project is underway. The university’s “GeoEco Center” is being constructed to tap geothermal technology and help reduce campus greenhouse-gas emissions by about 45 % by 2030, with a goal of reaching net-zero carbon no later than 2050.
The city held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, November 7 for the new Reecer Creek Levee, part of a larger floodplain-restoration project near Enterprise Way north of Dolarway Road.

SPORTS
CWU Women's Soccer lost to Western Washington 3-0 this weekend.
CWU’s Women’s Volleyball won 3-0 over Western Oregon on Saturday.
CWU’s Football team beat SUL Ross State in Alpine, Texas 73-7 on Saturday.
At Ellensburg High School, the Bulldogs varsity football team recently wrapped up their season. They finished with a loss to Hanford HS by a score of 7-36.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup with garlic toast and mixed fruit The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
