The historic Umtanum Suspension Bridge has won an international award following its rehabilitation project, according to the Bureau of Land Management. The 220-foot suspension bridge in the Yakima River Canyon has been a local landmark since its construction in the 1920s. The span has now garnered global praise after being recently named the winner in the New Life category of the 2025 Footbridge Awards in Chur, Switzerland.

Longtime Cle Elum community volunteer Bev Gonyea has been awarded the 2025 Judge Paul P. Pangrazi Memorial Service Award. Gonyea has been a steadfast volunteer for the Rotary Club of Upper Kittitas County, and has also been the behind-the-scenes spark plug of multiple community events, as well as a volunteer and substitute teacher in Cle Elum schools. The Judge Paul P. Pangrazi Memorial Service Award is given annually to a person who has a record of distinguished service that benefits the citizens of Cle Elum.

The Foundation at Kittitas Valley Healthcare contributed more than $630,000 to Kittitas Valley Healthcare this year, including $200,000 for a new Medic One EMS ambulance that will be used in Cle Elum.


Kittitas County certified the 2025 General Election results. Voter turnout in Kittitas County hit 41.7% in November’s general election. Kittitas County officials said a total of 13,454 people cast ballots out of a pool of 32,251 registered voters.

Central Washington University Women’s Volleyball Team plays Simon Fraser today at 1:30 p.m. in San Diego, California. 


Central Washington University’s Men’s Basketball Team plays Simon Fraser today at 7 p.m. in Burnaby, Canada and plays Western Washington University in Bellingham on Saturday at 5 p.m.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH AT THE FISH OPEN TABLE?


The FISH Open Table Lunch schedule is not out for December but we know the lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
