A summer marine push means higher fire danger in Eastern Washington. Gusty onshore flow will twist & turn through the gaps in the Cascades, shooting out into Yakima & Ellensburg at 30+ mph.
The Kittitas County Fire Marshal has issued a burn ban and a ban on fireworks in unincorporated Kittitas County started at midnight on July 1, 2025. The burn ban prohibits open burning, also known as pile or debris burning. Open burning includes any ignition or burning of any combustible material outdoors. This includes garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, branches, litter, paper, vegetative matter, and other debris. The ignition or discharge of any fireworks in the unincorporated county is prohibited during this ban, including on July 4. In Ellensburg, the use of consumer fireworks is prohibited within the city limits.
