NEWS
Cle Elum has more time to figure out how to pay its debts. A federal bankruptcy judge agreed to push the city's deadline from May 30 to July 31 to submit a Plan of Adjustment. That plan is the strategy the city will use to restructure nearly 26 million dollars it owes City Heights Holdings, the developer behind a 962-home project the city signed onto back in 2011. City Heights is still challenging Cle Elum's right to file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy in the first place. A judge in Yakima heard two days of testimony on that earlier this month and hasn't ruled yet. --
Kittitas County is asking neighbors to weigh in on the plan that will shape growth for the next two decades. The county has scheduled a public hearing for 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 2nd at the Commissioners Auditorium in the courthouse at 205 West Fifth Avenue. Commissioners will take testimony on the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update, along with new critical area and development rules that go with it. --
And down in Cle Elum, drivers should plan an extra few minutes. Kittitas County Public Works has started building a new roundabout on Bullfrog Road as part of the Pine Ranch Development. The project is expected to take three months. Drivers can use a marked bypass route through Pine Ranch Road, Saddleback Drive, and Ponderosa Way. --
